Adelaide United have announced that Mark Jones has left the Club to join Newcastle Jets as their senior coach.

Jones, who was appointed the Club's Head of Youth Development in January 2016, was the Head Coach of United's National Premier League (NPL) team and recently accepted the position to take charge of Adelaide's Westfield W-League team.

Speaking on his departure, Jones said he was thankful for the opportunity the Reds gave him.

"I would like to thank everyone at Adelaide United for how they welcomed me and helped me during my time with the Club," Jones said.

"The opportunity to be Head Coach of the Club's NPL side was fantastic and something I really enjoyed.

"Now I'm looking forward to my next challenge and I'm excited for it."

Chief Executive Officer of the Club, Grant Mayer, wished Jones well for his future career and thanked him for his efforts.

"The opportunity that has been presented to Mark is something that doesn't come around often," Mayer said.

"Mark took charge of our NPL team at a time of significant change and did an outstanding job throughout the season.

“He has set up our youth team well and laid the foundation for a successful W-League season as well.

"On behalf of everyone at the Club, I'd like to thank Mark for his efforts with us and wish him well for his future."

Current NPL Assistant Head Coach, Ivan Karlovic, has accepted a similar role with Adelaide United's NYL team and the Club is moving quickly to appoint Senior Coaches for both the W League and NYL teams for the upcoming seasons.
